About Me

Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Lauren Bennett and I am an seventeen eighteen year old high school graduate living in New Mexico. I have always had a passion for baking and cooking, but recently it has become more of a challenge after being diagnosed with celiac disease nearly a year ago. It seemed all the more challenging since I have also been a vegetarian by choice since the age of five. Yet it is a challenge that I gladly accept! After spending much of high school with illness, it was somewhat of a relief to finally be able to know that recovery would come with simply eliminating gluten from my diet. I am still continuing to heal, and as this is a big transition point in my life, I have decided to step back and reflect on all of the great opportunities I have had, and prepare for all the great opportunites ahead of me. This year will hopefully help me explore my many interests and become more independent before moving to a very different environment in Florida where I will attend college.

As for the name of my blog, I mostly liked the play on words. But it is also a result of my passion for France. I have many fantasies and dreams for my future, such as living in the South of France, baking, painting and tending to my little farm consisting of goats, honey bees, lavender, vegetable plants and fruit orchards. Yes, the scale of my dreams is very large. Also on the top of my list of places to venture and photograph are Italy, Greece, Scotland, and... the list could go on and on. I think that my intrigue for beautiful places, unique, rich culture and natural wonders and wildlife are what influence me most as an artist.

The mission of this blog is to share my love of style, design, art and food and hopefully inspire others to bake and cook tasty vegetarian, gluten free dishes. I also want to show everyone that gluten free baking does not have to compromise great flavor, texture and appearance.

So that I do not continue on forever and/ or bore you, I will just give you a list of other things that I enjoy, so you know a little more about me. I love: photography, drawing, gardening, cross country running, hiking, biking, swimming, all animals-wild and domestic, fairy tales, illustrating children's picture books, traveling, writing, Autumn, farmers' markets, planning parties, rain and thunderstorms, camping under the stars, the lighting in New Mexico, dusk, picking fresh fruit and vegetables, experiencing new wonders, and my newest venture- food, art and photography blogging.

Thanks for reading :)

  1. Hi, Lauren, It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday at The Canal House class at Los Poblanos (I was the seatmate to your left). Your site is beautiful; especially your photography. Melissa and Christopher would be proud :) Keep following your dreams and your passions! I will certainly add you to my Google reader.

  3. Hi Lauren: When I read that someone this young is so clear about so many goals and dreams in life, hope certainly comes back to me. I see so many people in their late twenties and early thirties who still have no idea about who they are or what they want. I've just read your blog for the first time, but I am sure I'll be coming back for more. Thank you for all the gluten free recipes which I'll certainly put to use. Thanks for the excellent photos and the fluffy clouds. Big hug from Australia

  4. Lauren,
I love your beautiful blog! I was so impressed to see such amazing photos and delicious gluten free recipes, from someone right out of high school. So much talent! I started my gluten free adventure two years ago, when my husband was diagnosed with celiacs and I discovered my gluten allergy. It's been hard at times, but I love baking yummy gluten free treats! I finally got around to writing and creating my gluten free baking blog, which has been such a huge blessing!

You're an inspiration! Keep following your dreams!

  11. Hi Lauren,

I do some writing for a blog called Eat Boutique, and we're doing a post on creative citrus recipes. I came across your lovely blog and I wanted to know if I could use the photo for Blood Orange Gelato, credit you, and provide a link to your recipe and the "About" section of your blog? It would be similar to this: http://www.eatboutique.com/2014/01/10/what-were-loving-potatoes/#.UtggBHk6JuY

    Thanks!

That would be wonderful! I really appreciate your interest in my blog and I am honored that you are considering using my photo for your post. I would like to ask if it might be possible for you to also include a link to my current blog, as I have recently moved to http://www.wanderfoodphotos.com
I really enjoy Eat Boutique and again I am very grateful to have the opportunity to have some of my own work featured there.

      Thanks so much,
